New Manga

One of my new favorite mangas is Vampire Knight. The basic plot is that there's a girl named Yuki who along with her partner Zero have to protect their schools secret. In this school the students are divided into a day class and night class, the night class being the ones who take classes through the night while the day class goes to school during the day. The secret that Yuki and Zero are protecting is the fact that everyone in the night class is a vampire. The other students can't know this, so it's Yuki and Zeros' job to not only make sure they never find out, but also to stop the night class from biting them. The books basically portray their adventures as they encounter more and more of vampire society.
This series is shojo or "girl manga" so it does focus a little more on relationships and love then horror or action, but it's in their nonetheless. Afterall, vampires have super strength and other various powers so the "guardians" have to use weapons, like a special gun and rod, to sometimes restrain them. They also sometimes refer to almost magical abilites, like erasing a victims memory. The love comes in because of the fact that Yuki was rescued 10 years ago from an evil vampire by a friendly one named Kaname Kuran, who attends the school and has fallen for here. Unfortunately, her vampire hunting partner Zero, seems to have similar feelings as well. When he also turns out to be a human turned vampire, the tension only gets worse.
Overall this manga is a pretty good blend of shojo, action, horror and love. It mixes supernatural and modern at the same time, to create a very believable world where the vampires and humans are just trying to achieve coexsistance. The only boring parts are explanations of politics, so, I guess I'd give this manga a 4.5/5. If you want to read this or others a good site would be onemanga.com .
